I completed an undergraduate degree and then a full time three year Honors and Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and qualified in 1993. I am registered with the Health Professional’s Council of South Africa. My training consisted of academic and practical components and included a one year supervised internship. I have also completed a two-year qualification in systemic therapy with individuals and couples at the Institute of Family Therapy in London.
I regularly attend courses and supervision in order to develop my skill set and keep abreast of current theory and practice
I am a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (75506) and am on their register of Chartered Psychologists. This means that I have met the requirements for training and have agreed to follow the Society member conduct rules and I am guided by their code of Ethics. The principles of the code of ethics means that I am always bound to work in my client’s best interests and respect confidentiality. I am also bound to maintain my professional competence and I have regular professional supervision as outlined in the professional guidelines.
I am also a registered Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical) with the Health Professional’s Council (PYL 26705) and am legally bound to maintain my registration. The HPC is the regulatory body set up by the government. Registration with the HPC requires that you meet their standards for training, professional expertise, behaviour and health.
